This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you use the Good Play Zones website or apply to join the Good Play Zone network. Good Play Zones is operated by FUNdamentally Children, which also runs Dr Gummer's Good Play Guide.

The information we collect

When you complete the self-certification form, we collect the information you provide, including:

Venue details: venue name, number of sites, town, region, full address, website, age range and the description you write for your listing.
Contact details: your name and role, email address and phone number.
Your self-assessment answers against the Good Play Zone Standard, your declaration, and any additional notes you add.

When you use the "find your nearest zone" feature, the postcode you type is used to work out your location. It is sent to a postcode lookup service (see below) and is not stored by us. We do not ask for your location in any other way.

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) in its server logs for security and reliability.

How we use your information

To assess and process your application to join the Good Play Zone network.
To contact you about your application, your listing and the Good Play Zone programme.
To publish approved venues in our public directory. Please note that only business and venue information is published (venue name, town, region, age range, description and website). Your personal contact details, such as your email and phone number, are not published.
To support our research and to promote the value of good play provision. Where we use information for research or marketing beyond running the directory, we do so on an aggregated or anonymised basis, or with your consent.

Our legal basis

We rely on your consent when you submit the form and agree to be contacted, and on our legitimate interests in operating the accreditation scheme and public directory. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of trusted service providers ("processors") to run the website and handle form submissions:

Formspree processes the self-certification form and delivers submissions to us by email. Formspree is based in the United States.
Netlify hosts the website.
postcodes.io converts the postcode you enter into a location for the "find your nearest zone" feature.
OpenStreetMap provides the map images, and Google Fonts provides the website's fonts. These services may receive your IP address when their content loads in your browser.

We may also disclose information where required by law.

International transfers

Some of our providers, including Formspree, are based outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep application and listing information for as long as your venue is part of the network, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our legal and operational needs. You can ask us to remove your information at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal information, and to request a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email zones@goodplayguide.com.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This website does not use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
